In the summer months visitors are encouraged to bring light cotton clothes and short sleeve shirts. The hottest months of the year are December, January and February when the temperature can rise to approximately 35ºC. Remember to have your hat and some sun cream handy.

In contrast the winters in Sutherland are icy cold and thick blankets of snow are reported regularly. Pack enough warm clothes if you're planning a visit in the winter months (June through August). This Karoo town is one of the coldest in the country and temperatures can fall to below minus 10ºC!
