Sutherland is 4 hours drive from Cape Town and it is worth considering a stop at historical Matjiesfontein where you can stretch your legs, refuel (Sutherland does not have 24 hour petrol services) and enjoy a quick coffee at the Lord Milner hotel.

After seeing the town of Sutherland for the first time you will drive down the short curving Rooikloof pass.

At this point you should look to the right for our entrance gate. It can easily be spotted from the R354 by simply looking out for the well known Red Bicycle elevated above our gate post.
